Are you after a luxury mattress that could give you the support you need to help with back pain? If so, the Cloverlane Hybrid mattress might just be what you’re looking for.
Cloverlane is a relatively new brand promising luxury sleep. This 15” hybrid gives you three firmnesses, individually wrapped coils, a zoned Euro top, and enhanced edge support. Their three firmness choices for this bed are Premium Plush, Medium, and Luxury Firm. I tested the Luxury Firm model.

Our Recommendation
We recommend this mattress for the following sleeper types:
Couples
This bed has great motion isolation so you will not feel your partner tossing and turning at night.
Back Sleeping
Ideal for lightweight and average weight back sleepers.
Stomach Sleeping
Ideal for lightweight and average weight stomach sleepers.
Pros
Excellent motion isolation – Couples should love how well the Cloverlane isolates motion. You’re unlikely to feel any of your partner’s tossing and turning.
It looks expensive – There’s something about the color combination and the 15-inch profile that make this mattress look lavish.
Good for pressure relief – This is a solid pick for those needing pressure relief, especially back sleepers.
Cons
Not for short people – It’s not a deal-breaker, but this is a tall mattress, and if you put it on a tall foundation, you might have problems reaching the floor.
Not the best for sex – While there is some responsiveness to this mattress, I don’t think this will be enough for most sexually active couples.
It’s costly – The Cloverlane Hybrid not only looks costly but sports an equally costly price tag. It’s almost $2,000 for a queen.
Cloverlane Hybrid Performance Ratings
How the Cloverane Hybrid Compares
Here at Sleep Advisor, we’ve tested over 150 different mattresses. The Cloverlane Hybrid outperforms average mattresses in overall performance, motion isolation, cooling, and edge support. It also rates better for couples than the average bed and has a longer sleep trial.
Test | Cloverlane Hybrid | Average |
Overall | 4.3 | 4.1 |
Mattress Height | 15” | 11″ |
Sleep Trial | 365 Nights | 141 Nights |
Price (Queen) | $1,999 | $1,695 |
Pressure Relief | 4 | 4.3 |
Support | 4 | 4.5 |
Motion Isolation | 5 | 3.9 |
Cooling | 4 | 3.9 |
Bounce | 3.5 | 4 |
Edge Support | 4 | 3.9 |
Couples | 4 | 3.9 |
Who I Recommend The Cloverlane Hybrid For:
- Combination sleepers – Although this bed doesn’t have too much bounce, I never felt stuck in the Euro top. There’s enough responsiveness to make it easy to switch positions.
- Average-weight back sleepers – I’m average-weight myself, and this bed felt amazing on my back.
- Average-weight stomach sleepers – I didn’t feel the usual bend in the spine I often feel when sleeping on my stomach. The Cloverlane supported my hips well in this position.
Who I Don’t Recommend The Cloverlane Hybrid For:
- Full-time side sleepers – I felt a little dip around my hips while on my side. It wasn’t bad, but it might get worse if you’re a full-time side sleeper.
- Those after a bouncy bed – This mattress is not that bouncy. Instead, I’d recommend one of our favorite innerspring mattresses if you want something more buoyant.
Customer Reviews of the Cloverlane Hybrid
Cloverlane has a little over 90 reviews on their website, scoring 4.9 out of 5 stars. Most customers are generally happy with how this hybrid feels, explaining how it helped their back pain. Others say it’s firmer than they expected.
Testing the Cloverlane Hybrid
Sleep Advisor’s Testing Methodology
I was excited to test this mattress as it’s supposed to be among the firmest out there. Cloverlane says this hybrid has excellent pressure relief and support, so I focused on those first, seeing how lifted I felt and using a pressure map to retrieve real-time data.
I also tested this bed for motion isolation, bounce, edge support, and cooling, using tools like a seismograph app, a heat gun, a weighted medicine ball, and more.
For reference, I’m average weight, so you might find the Luxury Firm softer or firmer depending on how much you weigh.

Firmness & Feel
Firmness Scale: 6.5/10 (Luxury Firm)
We rate mattress firmness on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest. I rated the Cloverlane Hybrid Luxury Firm 6.5 out of 10, which is medium-firm. I expected it to be firmer after reading customer reviews, but I guess the soft pillow top really takes the lead here.
Since the Cloverlane Hybrid comes in various firmness options, you can explore other models that might suit you better. I’ve created the chart below to help you match your sleeping position to the ideal Cloverlane Hybrid firmness.
SLEEPING POSITION | BEST CLOVERLANE HYBRID FIRMNESS OPTION |
Side Sleeper | Premium Plush and Medium |
Back Sleeper | Medium and Luxury Firm |
Stomach Sleeper | Luxury Firm |
Combination Sleeper | Luxury Firm |
How Does the Cloverlane Hybrid Feel?
I felt relaxed and supported on this mattress, especially thanks to the pillow top hugging my curves just enough to relieve pressure. The coils did an equally great job supporting my body so that everything was aligned.
Sleeping Positions for Different Body Types
According to Cloverlane’s online representatives, the bed’s weight capacity is 500 pounds for the twin and twin XL sizes. Meanwhile, king, queen, California king, and split king sizes can all support up to 1,000 pounds.
Side Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | Our lightweight tester felt okay on the Cloverlane, but we both agreed the softer model would probably work better. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | As I mentioned, I experienced my hips dipping, and while this wasn’t horrible, it makes me wonder how it would feel if I were a full-time side sleeper. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Our heavyweight tester didn’t like how the Cloverland felt around his shoulder and hip. |
Back Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | According to my colleague who stepped in to test for lightweight sleepers, this bed felt excellent for back sleeping. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | I was equally impressed with how the Cloverland felt around my lower back. It was a perfect balance of relief and support. Chef’s kiss! |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Our heavy tester liked it just as much, sharing that the Clovelane kept his body aligned while cushioning his curves. |
Stomach Sleepers
Lightweight Sleepers | Less than 130 pounds | Lightweight stomach sleepers rejoice! The Cloverland should feel great in this position for those under 130 pounds, offering plenty of support to keep the hips lifted. |
Average-Weight Sleepers | 130-230 pounds | This bed supported my spine throughout, so I didn’t feel my hips dipping, which is typically my problem when sleeping on my stomach. |
Heavyweight Sleepers | More than 230 pounds | Heavy stomach sleepers might prefer an even firmer mattress. As our tester explained, the Cloverlane felt just okay in this position, which wasn’t enough that we’d recommend it for dedicated stomach sleepers above 230 pounds. |
I absolutely loved the Cloverlane mattress for pressure relief on my back. The foams provide cushioning, and the coils provide support, all of which result in a mattress that excels at preventing uncomfortable pressure buildup for this position.
I also used a pressure map to help evaluate this. My pressure map for back sleeping backed up my thoughts, showing practically all blue with just a little bit of green, which means hardly any pressure whatsoever. While side sleeping didn’t feel bad, the pressure map showed some red and yellow in my hip, indicating pressure there.
Because of the red and yellow for side sleeping, I took off a point here.

Is the Cloverlane Hybrid Good for Pain Relief?
Cloverlane hugs the body so well while still offering great support and spine alignment, all of which makes me believe it would be good for pain relief. However, think twice about whether its firmness and feel fit your preferred sleeping position and body weight, especially if you have existing pain.
Back Pain | I would say this mattress is great for back pain as it combines supportive coils with pressure-relieving foams. Plus, it has that zoned lumbar layer that provides additional support for your back. Read more about mattresses for back pain here. |
Hip Pain | Hip pain can be an issue for side sleepers in particular, and I experienced some dipping in this area when on my side. For this reason, I wouldn’t recommend the Cloverlane for dedicated side sleepers with hip pain. It might work if you’re a back sleeper with hip pain, though. Read more about mattresses for hip pain here. |
Shoulder Pain | I experienced no pressure buildup or any uncomfortable dips in the shoulder area, but I can see how this mattress might be a little too firm for those with shoulder pain, especially if you sleep on your side. Back sleepers, again, should be fine. Explore more mattresses for shoulder pain here. |
This Cloverlane bed has a solid support system with sturdy coils and a latex lumbar layer underneath the gel-infused memory foam. This sounded promising at first, and it didn’t disappoint.
I tested the Cloverlane’s support by lying on it in different positions, seeing how well it kept my heaviest areas, such as the hips, lifted. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it felt amazing on both my back and stomach, but it was lacking when I tried lying on my side, mainly because my hips were dipping a little.
Motion isolation is important to couples and co-sleepers, especially if one person is a restless sleeper and the other wakes up easily.
I tested this using a seismograph app and got a nearly flat line. Spikes of any kind would have indicated motion transfer, but the results tell me there was practically nothing. This is probably due to the Cloverlane’s foam layers and the fact that the coils are individually wrapped. It’s a 5 out of 5 for motion isolation if you ask me.
Temperature Regulation / Cooling
4/5
Some cooling is always better than none, especially if you usually sleep hot or live in a warmer climate. The last thing you want is your bed overheating, making warm summer nights even hotter.
I used a heat gun to check just how much it heated up. I first took the temperature without lying on it. I then took the temperature after lying on it for five and then 10 minutes. The temperature went up only 6 degrees after 10 minutes, which is great news for hot sleepers.
However, it didn’t feel cool to the touch, so I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.
Bounce helps with switching positions, and this can be a big advantage for combo sleepers, sexually active couples, and those with limited mobility such as older adults. Unfortunately, the Cloverlane was lacking in this area.
I used a weighted medicine ball to test how bouncy the Clovelane Hybrid is, dropping the ball onto the mattress to see how much it bounced back. The 10-pound ball didn’t really bounce off the bed much, indicating there’s not as much pushback.
However, it wasn’t that hard to move around on it. While I think it’d be okay for combo sleepers, sexually active couples and people with limited mobility would probably prefer something more bouncy, which is why it scored only a 3.5 out of 5.
Good edge support keeps the perimeter from collapsing when you sit or lie near the edge of the bed. This is great if you often sit on the side of the bed to get ready for the day or if you like extra surface space to spread out when you sleep.
The Cloverlane has foam reinforcement around the coil layer to help with this edge. We test edge support by sitting and lying in this area for a minute.
The bed held me in place when I was lying near the edge, and I felt secure sitting on the edge of this bed, even when I tried to bend over. However, there was a decent amount of sinkage when I was sitting, which I think could be a problem for people with mobility issues. That’s why I took off a point here.
The accessibility category describes what ‘extras’ a mattress brings to the table. First and foremost, its incredible colors, height, and stitching make it look and feel high-end. Plus, you have three firmness options to pick from based on your needs.
The policies are also off the charts. There’s a lifetime warranty, a year-long sleep trial, and free white glove delivery. All of this earned the Clovelane Hybrid a 5 out of 5 in this category.
I tried Cloverlane’s online chat, and it was great. I asked for this bed’s weight capacity and got a response fairly quickly. At first, it looked like they’d left me “on read,” but just wait a few minutes, and they’ll get to you.
Also, returning the bed seems easy enough, and it’s free, which is helpful for people who don’t want to spend extra money if the bed doesn’t work out. For these reasons, I gave it a 5 out of 5.
Performance for Couples
4/5
We get our couples score by looking at how the mattress scored in other categories, such as motion isolation, edge support, cooling, bounce, and overall support. We also consider its firmness (is it versatile enough for both people?) and if it has a high enough weight capacity.
The Cloverlane Hybrid is excellent at isolating motion, which can be a game-changer for many couples. You are less likely to wake up to your partner’s tossing and turning with this one. It also rates well for cooling and edge support, so couples should be able to comfortably spread out and stay cool.
This bed has a high weight capacity to support couples, and it has a versatile medium-firm feel. However, it doesn’t have the best bounce, which is why I nicked one point off, giving it a 4 instead of 5.
Preference-Based Features
15-Inch Profile
What says “luxury” better than a tall mattress? The Cloverlane is 15 inches tall, and, in my opinion, that’s pretty impactful, making it look like one of those hotel mattresses.
Free White Glove Delivery
White glove delivery is a luxury experience, but Cloverlane gives you this experience for free. I love seeing it.
Quality Construction
The white and creme colors, the stitching, the Euro top, and the handles on the side all add to an overall exceptional finish of the Cloverlane Hybrid mattress.
Construction: What’s Inside the Cloverlane Hybrid?
The Cloverlane Hybrid is 15 inches tall, so it’s among the tallest beds out there. The construction starts with a cover made from polyester and polyethylene. It has an antimicrobial treatment and is quilted to 1.75 inches of foam, which makes up the Euro top.
- The first layer under the cover is made from gel-infused memory foam. It’s 2 inches tall, combining pressure-relieving capabilities with temperature regulation to draw the heat away from your body.
- The Lumbar Relief Layer features zoned latex that focuses on the lower back. This layer stretches across the middle of the bed, as it’s meant to aid in back support and lumbar pain.
- The Cloverlane’s transition layer has 2.5 inches of foam that eases you into the support layer underneath.
- Most of this bed’s impressive performance comes from the individually wrapped coils. These 8-inch tall coils move separately compared to interconnected coils, so they’re better at reducing motion isolation while still offering some responsiveness.
- The edge support foam around the coils provides additional strength in the perimeter.
- There’s also the lower cover that prevents the bed from shifting and 16 hand-installed brass air vents to keep the air flowing.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
The Cloverlane Hybrid is not a bed-in-a-box mattress, so you don’t need to unbox it. Plus, it comes with free white glove delivery, meaning that a professional team comes and installs the bed for you, so you don’t have to do anything.
The fact that it doesn’t come compressed in a box also means there’s less chance of any off-gassing. I was not there when this bed arrived, but I noticed no off-gassing at the time of testing.
Certifications
- CertiPUR-US® – The foams in the Cloverlane mattress meet CertiPUR-US® standards for durability, content, and emissions. They’ve been analyzed and accredited by independent testing laboratories.

Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress FAQs
Hybrids can be a little bouncier than all-foam mattresses, which could be a drawback if you’re after a more slow-moving bed. Some can also be noisier with time as the coils begin to squeak, but this also depends on the quality of the bed. Hybrids are also generally more expensive and heavier to lift than all-foam models.
The warranty on this bed lasts for as long as the original owner owns and uses it. This means that if you were to sell or give away your Clovelane mattress, the warranty would not carry over to the new owner.
On average, a hybrid mattress should last seven to 10 years, but this also depends on the bed’s overall quality. Lower-quality models are likely to develop a dent much sooner.
You can’t flip a hybrid mattress unless it’s designed this way. Some mattresses are flippable and have two sides you can use, but many are not. Those that are not flippable should never be flipped, or else you’re disrupting the way its layers perform and feel. This goes for both hybrid and all-foam beds.

My Verdict of the Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress
I had great fun testing the Cloverlane Hybrid. I expected a lot, and what’s great is that this bed didn’t disappoint. It doesn’t have the best bounce, and it might be on a little pricier side, but it’s up to you to figure out how important this is for you.
It gives everything from pressure relief to motion isolation, as well as enough temperature regulation and solid edge support that most people will appreciate. Add its industry-leading policies to all that, and you get a great mattress worth your attention. All of this earned the Cloverlane Hybrid a total score of 4.3 out of 5.
