Summary: Lucid dreaming researchers at the startup REMspace Inc have opened a laboratory in Redwood City, Calif, with the goal of developing technologies to explore lucid dreams, sleep paralysis, and other REM sleep phenomena. The team has previously demonstrated the ability to transmit speech and melodies from dreams in real-time and control virtual environments from within dreams. The founder, Michael Raduga, envisions these technologies as a major advancement, comparable to artificial intelligence.
Key Takeaways:
- New Research Facility: REMspace Inc has established a new laboratory in Redwood City, Calif, to advance the study of lucid dreaming and REM sleep phenomena.
- Technological Innovations: The team has shown the potential to transmit real-time data from dreams and control virtual environments while dreaming, highlighting significant advancements in lucid dreaming research.
- Vision for the Future: Founder Michael Raduga believes that integrating dream worlds with physical reality could provide a new, hyper-realistic experience free of physical limitations.
Lucid dreaming researchers at startup REMspace Inc have opened their new laboratory in Redwood City, Calif, aiming to develop technologies for exploring lucid dreams, sleep paralysis, and other phenomena related to REM sleep.
In previous research, the REMspace team has demonstrated that speech and melodies can be transmitted from dreams in real time. In addition, they have shown that a virtual Cybertruck or a smart home can be controlled from sleep. Every year since 2020, REMspace has published scholarly papers on the topic of lucid dreaming.
“Our new laboratory aims to incorporate dream worlds into physical reality. We believe that REM sleep and phenomena associated with it, like lucid dreams, are the next big thing after AI,” says Michael Raduga, founder and CEO of REMspace, in a release “The conquest of REM sleep will bring true freedom to humanity by providing each of us with a new hyper-realistic reality free of physical limitations. These technologies are inevitable, and every day we get closer to them.”
CEO’s Background
Raduga is a Siberian lucid-dreaming researcher who has recently been granted permanent residency to relocate his activity to the United States. From 2011 to 2013, he conducted a series of experiments demonstrating that lucid dreams could be responsible for many alien abduction stories, religious visions, and near-death experiences.
In 2023, to avoid bureaucratic obstacles and speed up his studies, he performed the first-ever self-neurosurgery, which included trepanation, electrode implantation, and electrical stimulation of the motor cortex.
