These rolls of 2-1/2 inch pre-minimize strips found in each and every quilt shop – are so addictive. Anyplace from 20 – 42 strips all slice from the very same line of material, they are hard to resist. I’d like to suggest an option – reducing these strips from a variety of materials you curate you.
I like the search of a a lot more restrained or controlled scrappy look to my scrappy quilts. Picking a variety of materials and slicing my personal strips from them plays properly into that glance. I can then use my strips to make up any of the pleasurable pre-slash strip designs offered – like those found in Jelly Roll Jam – Quilts Created with 2-1/2 Inch Strips.
So … if I’m heading to reduce my own strips, how much material should I buy (or pull from my stash) to cut the variety of strips I’ll need for my “controlled scrappy” job? I have developed a chart for that.
The math has previously been finished – I have created the chart below for reducing 2-1/2 inch strips for many yardage increments. This chart is the newest addition to my Quilt Math sequence of charts and guides – encouraging you with some of that troublesome math.
Just click on on the image or the button underneath it to open up the file and print out a duplicate.
The chart above is 1 example of the charts and guides I’m including to the – QUILT MATH segment of this website, below the Understand tab at the top rated of any site on the site.
I have a handful of extra to insert, but several beneficial charts are integrated in QUILT MATH appropriate now. You can print them out and have them helpful for when you need to have to refer to them. I hope you come across them to be as practical as I do!
