I love mirrors. They have a way of brightening up a room and making space look much larger. What is a bedroom without a great mirror? It may be difficult to know what kinds of mirrors to place in your bedroom, and what ones will look the best.
With so many options out there you may not even know how to pair them down.I found some of my favorite options and listed them here. Hopefully, this will give you a place to start your search for the perfect mirror for your bedroom. One that will open up your space and enhance that perfect bedroom feel that you are looking for.
If you are a believer in the principles of feng shui, you may not want a mirror in your bedroom at all. Feng shui tends to say that any mirror in the bedroom interferes with your personal energies and can have a negative effect on your life. I don’t tend to believe in that and have always had a mirror in my bedroom without issue. I guess this is a fair warning for anyone that puts stock into feng shui.
1. Full length
A full-length mirror is a classic mirror for a bedroom area. A full-length mirror is perfect for checking your appearance and looking at your entire outfit. They also seem to open the room up and can make your room seem like it has a great deal of depth.
There are a few different kinds of full length mirrors that you can choose from. A free-standing full-length mirror can add some class to your room and come with some great decorative elements.
Though you can save quite a bit of room by hanging a full sized mirror on the back of your bedroom door. This allows you to hide away your full-length mirror as well as saving all the floorspace that would be taken up by a standing mirror. It also uses an often under utilized space, as many mirrors
You can also adorn walk in closets with full sized mirrors if you want them a bit out of the way but still want the functions they can serve. If you hang more than one in a walk-in closet, you may be able to get a full 360 view of your outfits.
2. Makeup mirror
A makeup mirror is a smaller mirror that is often attached to a vanity of some sort. These mirrors do help open up the feel of the room. Although they do come in many sizes. Larger makeup mirrors can have their attached light sources and space to facilitate their use.
There are smaller varieties that can fold down or stand independently on a desk. These smaller kinds can be decorative, or just functional and put away when they are no longer in use. This function makes them a bit more versatile.
Typically these kinds of mirrors are for applying makeup as the name would suggest, though they still have great design opportunities. They still can reflect some light providing some light and brightness and open the room a bit, like mirrors have a tendency to do.
There are also some different designs and decorations that a makeup mirror can have, and they can look amazing and add a lot to the room.
3. Frameless mirrors
Lots of mirrors throughout history have been hung on the wall. Traditionally they have been hung in large and decorative frames. These frames can be decorative and quite beautiful. There are plenty of designs, and the details can make your space look great. Though if you are looking for a more contemporary look that is up to date and clean, maybe frameless mirrors are for you.
A frameless mirror has a sleek and modern design. They open up your room without much attention being brought to the area so that the mirror looks like a seamless part of the environment.
Frameless mirrors can also come in a great number of shapes and designs. These various styles and shapes can be arranged in patterns and designs on your walls. There are some amazing piece of mirror art that not only being a great design to the bedroom but also brighten up a space and give some vibrancy to the room.
4. Ceiling mirrors
You may have never seen mirrored ceilings, and with good reason. Mirrors on a ceiling may create an illusion of depth in your room, but it is a staple of a bygone era. If you search, you may be able to find a space that still has a mirror on the ceiling, but it will likely be a cheap and tacky hotel or a room that has not been updated since the early 70’s.
A mirrored ceiling is outdated and is considered tacky by most reputable designers. I mean, by all means, if you are a fan of the look and want that retro appeal you can go for it, but I would not recommend it, and I don’t think many other designers will either.
