Kevin Postol, DDS, was recently installed as president of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), a national organization for dentists who provide snoring and sleep apnea solutions.
He began his two-year term during the AADSM’s membership meeting on May 17.
“Dr Postol is devoted to increasing awareness of oral appliance therapy as an effective treatment option for sleep apnea when provided by AADSM qualified dentists,” says outgoing AADSM president Mitchell Levine, DMD, in a release. “He is devoted to the well-being of patients, and I know that he will be an excellent leader for the Academy.”
Advancing Oral Appliance Therapy
Postol started a general restorative dental practice in St. Louis in 1992. He started providing oral appliance therapy in 2006 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2011.
In 2023, he limited his practice exclusively to dental sleep medicine and TMJ therapy. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater St. Louis Dental Society. He has educated dentists both locally and nationally on the benefits of dental sleep medicine and has served on numerous AADSM committees and task forces.
“During my presidency, I will work with our board of directors, committees, and staff to develop and implement strategies and policies that will ensure that patients are aware of the benefits of oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea and that qualified dentists are best positioned to help meet the public burden of sleep apnea,” says Postol in a release. “The AADSM will work tirelessly on behalf of its members to develop resources that help our members to promote oral appliance therapy, build and strengthen referring relationships, and evolve their practices.”
